Metastatic neuroendocrine tumor of the small intestine:
219 MBq Ga-68 DOTA-TATE PET/CT imaging

Fig. 1: NET with suspected primary of the small intestine

Focal SSR uptake of the small intestine in the left middle abdomen without a pathologic correlate in the CT (arrow).

Fig. 2: Hepatic metastases in both liver lobes

Focal SSR uptake in both liver lobes, only partly with morphological findings on CT (arrows). Physiological tracer uptake in the spleen.

Description:

56 y/o male patient who presented with carcinoid syndrome. Primary diagnostics revealed a neuroendocrine tumor of unknown primary with hepatic metastases (NET G2 Ki-67 5-8% CDX2 positive) .

An additional DOTA-TATE PET/CT was performed and showed focal SSR uptake in the small intestine without a pathologic correlate in the CT, suspected of being the primary. Metastases with focal SSR uptake were revealed in both liver lobes, partly with morphological findings on CT.

The patient received treatment with somatostatin analogs.
