The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) has long been regarded primarily as an annual scientific meeting for radiologists. But as congress participants have witnessed over the last few years, this is no longer a fitting description, with the ECR pursuing a goal to become a true home for all professionals engaged in radiology.

The European Society of Radiology (ESR) is pleased to announce that ECR 2019 will now also be combined with the official congress of the European Society of Hybrid, Molecular and Translational Imaging (ESHIMT), the fastest growing medical community for hybrid imaging in Europe, which was inaugurated in 2016 and already boasts more than 1,500 members.

Having previously been recognised as the official scientific congress for medical imaging radiographers in Europe by the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) in 2016, ECR 2019 will be the official scientific meeting for both hybrid imaging and radiographers in Europe.

There has been a steady rise in radiographer abstract submission and congress participation over recent years resulting in a record attendance of nearly 2,200 radiographers from 75 countries at ECR 2018. For ECR 2019, the ESR is keen to further reinforce its position as a truly international congress for radiographers active in the field of medical imaging in Europe, and will further promote research among radiographers and strengthen collaboration in areas of common interest.

In the last few years, hybrid imaging has consistently been a key theme at the ESR’s annual meeting and, through continued cooperation with ESHIMT, participants can expect to find a full programme with everything there is to know about this topic at ECR 2019. From high-quality lectures and speakers to a technical exhibition that will feature more hybrid imaging exhibitors than ever before, the meeting will provide educational, social and business opportunities for all.
